A Lesson Learned from Canaan

This morning while Max and Lucy were still asleep, Canaan and I were playing together in the living room. He asked me to rebuild his train set that he got for Christmas since Max had torn it down yesterday. While putting the set back together again, Canaan would get too impatient and start to put his trains on the tracks, which would knock over some of what I had done. After a few times of this I got frustrated and raised my voice at Canaan and told him to not do it again.

After a couple more minutes I knocked over some of the tracks too. Here is the conversation that took place next:

Canaan: You knocked over the tracks.

Me: Yes I did.

Canaan: That was an accident dad.

Me: Yes it was an accident Canaan.

Canaan: Mine was an accident too.

Me: Yes, your's was an accident too. I'm sorry that I got upset with you Canaan.

Canaan: That's okay daddy.
